Interview to Jose Miguel Morales Dasso - Asociación Empresarios por la Educación

The Association Entrepreneurs for Education (Asociación Empresarios por la Educación) began in 2007 with the purpose of articulating and promoting the participation of the business sector in the improvement of education. It proposes to promote dialogue between the private sector, the government and civil society. Jose Miguel Morales Dasso, a Peruvian lawyer, promoted the initiative during his term in the Confederation of Private Business Institutions (Confederación de Instituciones Empresariales Privadas) Confiep.

Between the years 2003 and 2004, while I was President of the Mining, Petroleum and Energy Society, SNMPE, we saw that the mining sector was badly considered and that the money the mining workers received was mainly spent on alcohol and entertainment. We realized that we had to work on education. We hired a librarian to do a review of the educational material in the schools, from kindergarten to the last year of secondary school, including encyclopedias, to identify what was mentioned in them about mining, energy, petroleum and private enterprise.
