INSIGHTS TO PERU is an INDUCTION PACK for expatriate or visitor to Perú.
Introduction
When first arriving in a new country there are many things that an expatriate or visitor has to deal with – a new job, new colleagues, a new home, settling into a new culture and the welfare of his or her family. Dealing with all these factors, can become quite overwhelming. There are many things to be learnt, transactions to be made and at times it can be quite confusing, especially when it is in a different language.
Objectives
This course is designed not only to orientate the expatriate or visitor and facilitate their insertion into life in Lima but also to alleviate stress and to minimize the sensation of feeling lost and lonely, something that so many expatriate executives, spouses and families experience/encounter. As well as providing practical and logistical information on where to find things essential for living in Lima, it provides information on health and security issues necessary to be aware of in a country such as Peru. Just as importantly it accompanies the participant in their process of adjustment to living in a new country, clarifying confusions that may arise due to culture, custom and/or communication differences. Also it provides valuable information on English-speaking expatriate organizations in Peru and where it will be possible to meet other English-speaking expatriates in a social environment.
Important features of this course are the optional modules for spouses. Very often an expatriate arrives on a work contract and very quickly becomes integrated into the community within his or her office, organization or company, effectively it becomes their support system. On the other hand, spouses may arrive with only very limited contact with this community and may start to feel isolated or lonely in his or her new situation, having to deal with the upkeep of the home speaking only limited Spanish and looking after the welfare of their children. In the optional modules the spouses are accompanied in their new reality, where they are provided with information related to family issues and those of the home.
Target Audience
English-speaking expatriates (executives or spouses), visitors or tourists to Peru, on long-term or short-term placements, whether they have recently arrived to Peru or not.
